Alasdair developed an interest in helicopters at a very young age when he first experience helicopter flight. He gained his private helicopter licence in South Africa, aged 18 immediately after completing school in 2003.
Following this, he made the decision embark on a career in commercial helicopter flight, looking forward to the challenges and excitement that it could bring.
The next 5 years primarily consisted of studying towards both the commercial helicopter licence which he obtained in 2007, and his degree which he completed in 2009. Just weeks after completing his degree Alasdair undertook the Instructors course with Duncan Bickley at Aeromega, qualifying as an instructor by mid 2009, and slotting into the Aeromega team in the as an Instructor in the following weeks.
Alasdair particularly enjoys the challenge of training people towards their PPL(H), taking great satisfaction when students grasp the ideas being taught and demonstrating their understanding in the cockpit. He also feels privileged to accompany people on their maiden helicopter flight as he still clearly remembers his own 16 years ago.
He is currently rated to fly the R22, R44 and B206 Jetranger, and is flexible to work most days to suit his students requirements.
Aside from flying helicopters Alasdair is a keen sailor holding an MCA commercial Yachtmaster qualification, he frequently enjoys snow sports, photography/video-production, and riding motorcycles, and takes pleasure in playing a handful of musical instruments.
